The Itel P55 5G is truly a budget-friendly phone and stands out as the best option in its price range. I bought it during a Black Friday sale for around $90, which made it an even better deal. Initially, I doubted the phone’s quality because, let’s be honest, it’s an Itel. People often underestimate Itel phones, and I’m not sure why maybe it's because of the name itel I don't know. If you know, feel free to tell me in the comments. So let's talk about it
Features
The phone comes with 6GB RAM + 6GB expandable RAM, 128GB storage, and a 5000mAh powerful battery, which sets it apart from other phones in its price range. It’s powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6080 processor.
For this price, that’s impressive. Most phones in this range have low-end processors like octa-core chips that struggle with performance. The P55 5G, however, surprises with its power, outperforming all MediaTek processors up to the G99. It can handle some heavy tasks—not all, but I’ll explain.
The 5000mAh battery is another highlight. It lasts a full day depending on usage. Personally, I get 8-9 hours of use, charging it twice a day. My routine includes 70% brightness, 2 hours of browsing, 4 hours on social media, and the rest spent gaming. The phone supports 18W charging, taking about 2 hours to charge from 0-100%.
It also has some cool features like screen recording.
You can take screenshots just by swiping down with three fingers.
You can also hide apps if there's an app you don’t want anyone else to access. Simply swipe up with two fingers to access the section where you can hide or unhide apps. Don’t worry—even if someone tries to access it, they won’t succeed without the password that only you know.
Camera Performance
Now, about the camera. You might think it’s not great, but you’d be surprised. The camera performs well outdoors and can capture good images indoors if there’s sufficient light. The selfie camera is similar. What amazed me was its ability to take clear images in complete darkness using the flashlight. It’s not perfect, but it’s good enough.take a look at this examples

You can record videos in 2K resolution at 30fps and 1080p at 60fps or 30fps. Here’s a tip: for sharp images, record a 2K video of the subject, keep the phone steady as if you’re taking a picture, and then pause the video and screenshot the frame you want. It works wonders for rear cameras but not for selfies.
Gaming Performance
Is this phone powerful for gaming? The answer is yes and no. It can handle heavy games like Call of Duty (medium graphics), Genshin Impact (medium graphics), and Asphalt 9 (high graphics, 60fps) without lag. For emulation, it excels. It runs Dolphin Emulator, PPSSPP, and AetherSX2 (PS2 emulator) with ease. However, for high-end emulators like Nintendo Switch (Ryujinx, Skyline), Cemu, or Winlator, performance varies. You can play games like Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 1-4 on Ryujinx at 25+ fps, but you might experience graphical glitches. Skyline provides better graphics but lower fps (18-22fps).
Older PC games or ones with minimal requirements run well on Winlator, but you might need to reduce graphics, which could look awful. The phone can handle most Play Store games, even high-end ones, at low to medium settings.
The phone even supports split-screen functionality.I was able to play PUBG Lite and Asphalt 9 at the same time without any lags, but the split screen doesn't work on all apps.
AI Features
The Itel P55 5G includes a cool AI feature called Aviana, which I suspect integrates ChatGPT since it’s mentioned in the settings. Aviana can do many tasks like turning on the flashlight, making calls, browsing, or opening apps. To activate it:
- Go to Settings.
- Scroll down and select Aviana.
- Click Aviana Voice.
- Turn on the features.
- Enable activation via the power button and home button.
- Long press the home button for 5 seconds to activate.
You can use voice commands or type text. Note: the first time you use it, the power might drain faster, but after a full charge, it should stabilize. I experienced this myself.
Additional Features
Here are some extra features you can enjoy on the Itel P55:
- Live Wallpaper: You can turn any video into a live wallpaper using an app called Video Wallpaper. Note: this app isn’t available on the Play Store and may say your device isn’t supported. You can find the APK online but always scan it on VirusTotal before installing to ensure it’s safe. After installation, you can choose any video as your wallpaper. If you want some cool live wallpapers you can find them here on my Pinterest account don't forget to follow please.
- 5G Connectivity: This phone supports 5G and is the cheapest 5G phone available. The download speeds are incredibly fast, making it an unbeatable value for its price.
Should You Buy It?
If you’re on a tight budget and want a solid mid-range phone, then yes, the Itel P55 5G is a great choice. However, if you’re a heavy gamer or need a phone for intensive tasks, you might want to invest in a high-end device with a Snapdragon processor or something on that level. For normal daily use, this phone delivers excellent performance for its price. Don’t let the Itel name discourage you it’s a genuinely good phone.
Let me know in the comments if there’s anything else you’d like me to try with the phone or if I missed something!
